Cloud Buildings: A Poetic Sales Office Design

An Exploration of Art, Architecture, and Design

Zexin Yunzhu, located in Jinan New District, Handan City, Hebei Province, sets a new benchmark for ideal urban life. By integrating specific cultural characteristics with light and architectural space, this design creates a future scene of life. The combination of wood and architectural elements adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the space, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

The main furniture material, beech, is carefully selected for its quiet elegance and sturdy construction. Its fine and straight wood grain adds a sense of refinement to the overall design. Additionally, the main carpet material, Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) fiber, offers excellent performance similar to wool. Its elasticity, softness, and superior warmth make it a perfect choice for creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The centerpiece of Cloud Buildings is a hippopotamus sculpture, which is created using 3-D printing technology. This lightweight sculpture adds a touch of playfulness to the large space, creating a sense of exploration and adventure. The installation of lamps, furniture, hanging pictures, curtains, and ornaments completes the overall design, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing experience for visitors.

Cloud Buildings is not just a sales office; it is a work of art that combines functionality and aesthetics. Its unique design elements and attention to detail make it a standout project in the field of interior design. The project commenced in October 2020 and was completed in December 2020 in Handan City, Hebei Province.

The design team, including Liu Wei, Zhu Jiayuan, Jiang Xianghai, Pei Weiwei, and Wang Shuai, conducted extensive research to create a space that caters to children's interests and appreciation. By analyzing similar spaces and understanding the demands of the audience, they were able to incorporate specific colors, materials, elements, and concepts into the design.

Cloud Buildings presented several challenges during the design process. The triangular slope top of the sand table area required careful consideration of angles and relationships. By dividing the sand table into seven groups and calculating the length of the lamp tube based on the tilt angle and distance of the slope top, the design team ensured a seamless integration of lighting elements without compromising the overall design.

Cloud Buildings is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of Handan City. By combining architectural form with local cultural influences, this design creates a space that evokes deep emotions and memories. It seamlessly blends the past and the future, nature and modernity, and serves as a canvas for personal experiences and connections.

Cloud Buildings has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skill, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.
